All the Way from Saskatchewan
Picture
This past weekend I had the pleasure of teaching Reiki to a wonderful young woman, Haley Wiles, who came all the way from southeast Saskatchewan, near Weyburn, to learn from me. I was honored that she travelled all the way here just for my Reiki classes.

When I teach the first level of Reiki my students learn to give Reiki to themselves, to another human being and to animals. At the end of the day my Reiki students work on my horses. Horse people come to learn Reiki from me because they want to learn how to do energy work on their equine friends. They also want to hear the voices of these four-legged beauties.

On Haley’s first day of Reiki class, we spent so much time discussing energy, and she gave our Reiki volunteer an excellent Reiki treatment, we ran out of time so she wasn’t able to work on my horse that day. Prior to taking my class, Haley had written in one of her e-mail messages to me that she thought she heard the voices of animals but wasn’t sure if she was really hearing their voices.

On her second day, we discussed distance healing, and worked with distance healing energy. After this, we headed out to catch my horse so she could work on him in the round pen.

As usual my gelding Hobo was easy to catch. He was waiting for us in the treed area where he likes to enjoy the shade. As I walked forward to catch Hobo, Haley stood back. She said she felt he did not want her near when I caught him. She explained he felt wary of her.

I put Hobo in the round pen, and left him in there without his halter. When I work with people’s horses in an onsite session, I love it when the horse is loose, with no halter or lead rope, and not tied up. We left Hobo in the pen while I explained to Haley the issues he’d been having. I wanted her to work with Hobo by herself in the round pen. I stayed outside the round pen and gave her more information about the issues he’d been having. When I walked out of the round pen I heard Hobo say, "Here we go again." He knew what was going to happen as he's had many Reiki students work with him.

Haley amazed me as she worked with Hobo. Using her Reiki hands she scanned Hobo’s back end and shared with me that he was sore in the groin area and at the croup. Hobo’s back right leg was sore too. She said that he had at one time had his back legs lifted with rope and now this leg was giving him problems. The muscles were sore and stiff and he did not want to give that foot. I had spent months trying to figure out how to get him to give me his foot but could not. I had never used rope to lift his leg but did try it once the other day I shared with Haley. Hobo lifted his leg that day but wasn’t very willing nor was he happy. When I bought Hobo seven years ago his owner had told me that he had trained Hobo to lift his feet using ropes. At that time I did not know that it had caused Hobo so much stress and pain.

Haley placed her hand in Hobo’s groin and applied Reiki touch. She moved her hand down his leg and drew a lot of heat at the stifle. She said he was sore and stiff there because of how he’d been stressed when he’d lifted his leg with the rope. This happened over seven years ago but it still bothered him. Also when I had lifted his leg with the rope, Hobe felt unsure if he could trust me to keep him safe and not stress him out. I know my Hobo horse hangs on to things and has issues because of it. He rarely complains. He’s a stoic. It is not always easy for me to understand what is going on with him. He is one of the most difficult horse I’ve owned.

Haley continued to move her hand down his leg, and when she got to his ankle, she wrapped her hand around the inside of it and up came his foot. He gave his foot to her, the foot I had tried to get him to lift for many months. She showed me this several times. I could tell Hobo was relieved that finally someone figured him out. It took this amazing young woman all the way from Saskatchewan, my Reiki student, to break through his resistance. I was so happy. And the best thing about it was that Hobo lifted his foot willingly without any stress.

I asked Haley why Hobo was ringing his neck. He would pace in the round pen and swing his head around and around. She said the energy of a Friesian horse was in my pasture. This horse wanted to attack him. Hobo was saying that he would protect me. What was even more interesting was that my late husband was riding this horse! My husband died in a vehicle accident four years ago. We both loved horse so much. They were a huge part of our lives. I do miss him so much. What was really interesting is that I never saw this horse nor did I sense his energy. I do know though that about a week or two ago, Hobo started to act agitated, wringing his neck, pacing and acting like something was going to run out of the bushes in our pasture and attack him. Now Hobo’s behavior made so much sense. After Haley shared with information with me, I could sense they were there, horse and rider causing a disturbance with my horse and me. Haley explained how I could help send these two on their way, waving them goodbye to help them leave. I waved goodbye several times, hopefully sending them on their way.

When I moved to the area I now live at, three years ago, Hobo’s feet began to crack and split. I asked her why they were like that. She shared that in a different life Hobo had been a warhorse. He had to travel on rocky surfaces and the condition of the ground split his hooves. When I asked why he works the bit so much, she said this too was from being a warhorse.

What an amazing session we had that day! Haley surpassed my expectations. She is wonderfully intuitive and an amazing healer. I feel my words hardly give her the credit she deserves.

I was so impressed with this young woman. If you are lucky enough to live anywhere near her in southwest Saskatchewan, she is the person to contact if you have problems with your equine friend.
