The Herd

November 17, 2014
On Sunday I headed north of my home for a request to listen to a herd. Their owner, a dear friend of mine, Reiki and healing friend asked if I could tell her what they were saying. She told me that while she does hear what they have to say, she wanted confirmation that what she was hearing was correct. She also wanted to know who was meant to go as in depart from her herd. She has ten horses. A few too many she added.
On my drive I could feel their apprehension and excitement. This is not unusual. They did not talk much other than they said that they would wait until I got there, then they would talk. Fine with me.
We chatted for a while after I arrived and then in our Alberta winter cold Jolene and I headed out to talk with her herd. When we entered their feeding area her donkey came over to say hello. That’s interesting she said. Usually when someone enters the pasture the donkey comes over and pushes them in the butt with his muzzle. Time for you to go he’s saying. Jolene added that he did not do that to me. I was invited in.
Her horses and donkey were calm and quiet. They talked through Jolene confirming what she was saying was correct. One horse that she was not sure if she should keep said that he wanted to go. Why do you think I won’t let you ride me he was saying? As we talked while being surrounded by her wonderful horses I asked Jolene what she wanted in her herd. What kind of horses do you want? She replied that she wanted saddle horses. She wanted horses that she could trust to keep her and her family members safe. There were horses in the herd that simply refused to be the kind of saddle horses that she wanted. They were saying let us go. Why do you think we are being so difficult? Our discussion continued. It is my understanding that when horses are being difficult, you cannot trust them, they are constantly being injured and so on that they are not meant to be with you. They want a new home and a new owner. When this happens, and it has happened to me with a number of horses, before I sell them, I always ask for help from above to get the horse to the right home. Put them where they are meant to be. Sometimes our egos get in the way because we think that they have their best home right now. They are showing us that they are not where they want to be. It is up to us to allow them to move on.
Our session on Sunday focused on this. Her two forever horses followed us around affirming that they were in the right place right now. The others that Jolene was unsure of whether she should keep or not, kept to themselves and were not really that interested in being a part of the gathering.
One interesting thing that I like to do with energy work when I would like to see continuity within a group is this: I imagine a band of white light circling the herd. I keep the white light moving in that circular motion until it is embodied in the horses or whatever group I am working with and the group becomes linked and is one. As Jolene and I envisioned this some of the horses told her that they were acting out on purpose to show that they did not want to be part of her herd so in that moment they gave her the answer she was looking for. As I looked in my third eye for the circle to become complete I saw the white light turn into a rainbow of light. It was an amazing sight for me for I’d never witnessed that before.
I am so grateful that I was able to be a part of this herd experience. I love those horses, and Jolene’s horses told her that she was one of them. What a gift it was to be a part of this experience.
Just as I felt our session was over, I felt a bump on my behind. Her donkey had silently moved in and gave me the butt nudge. We were done and it was time for tea!
