Horses!

May 27, 2019
On Friday last week I drove out to work with a few horses. I had two booked for sessions. I was very excited as well as grateful because I LOVE working with horses in onsite sessions.
As it happened, it was pouring rain where I lived but I thought, whatever, it’s not the best scene but I really hoped for a shelter or a barn to work in. Being wet and cold doesn’t make me very happy but I suited up with Gore-Tex lined boots and my Aussie short version of a long rider, hoping that would keep me warm and dry if I had to be out in the rain.
As I got closer to my destination a song came on the radio. It was The Dead Heart by Midnight Oil. I knew it was about one of the horses there. It wasn’t the words in the song that were describing how the horse felt. It was the title of the song that had something to do with how one of the horses felt. I tucked that idea in the back of my mind and enjoyed the song. I do love Midnight Oil! But the line in the song, “We will listen. We will understand,” certainly made sense. It is what I do in a session. I help the horse owners listen and understand their horses’ behavior.
I arrived at my destination, and yes, it was raining but I was ready. I met up with Stacy and her stunning paint horse, Theresa. We just had to wait for her friend, Juliana to show up who was driving home from work. When Juliana arrived all she had to do was catch her beautiful roan gelding Josalito and we would begin. While we were waiting for Juliana to arrive, Josalito and his pasture mate, an older gelding were running up and down the hill close to where we stood outside their pasture. Stacy remarked how Josalito liked to run around in the pasture. She did not tell me however, that Jose did not like to be caught. I was shown this when Juliana went to catch him. Finally after what seemed like forever, I asked her if I could join Juliana and Josalito in the pasture. The minute I stepped into the pasture I felt Josalito’s heart rate change. It rose to a level where I could really feel his increased stress. I heard him think, oh no she means business. I told Juliana when a few of my horses played that game, how badly do you want to catch me, I always sent them the message from my mind to theirs, “I am going to catch you.” I sent that to them over and over letting them know I would not give up. I always allowed the time it took to catch them whether it was ten minutes or forty-five! Seriously one of my geldings took 45 minutes one day, but after that, it took less time. That’s how it works, well for me anyway.
After I felt Josalito’s stress and anxiety increase and he felt the urge to run away, I positioned myself further away and acted as a barrier to the area he wanted to run away to, leaving Juliana by herself to catch Josalito. It worked. Finally after what seemed like forever, she caught him. When we began their session I was shown WHY Josalito was so difficult to catch! He had a life as a stallion and in that life Juliana had been an older cowboy who had a very no nonsense attitude and was a harsh horseman. He wanted to use that stallion and because the stallion was very spirited, he could not easily catch him, so he roped him. When the cowboy roped him, the stallion fought so hard at being captured with that method, he reared, fell back and broke his neck. It was this memory of Juliana’s energy when she was that cowboy that Josalito feared. When she went to catch him in this life, all he could remember and hold onto was how he suffered at her hands in that life. He recognized the energy from that life! It was the energy from that life that scared him so much, even though eventually she did catch him. She shared that after she caught him, he was a pleasure to work with. It was the catching that took forever and frustrated her because she did not understand why he was so difficult. After her session she understood.
When a horse has a fear like this, it is a previous life that the horse had with the same owner and something happened to make it fear an action from its owner. It could be the catching, the saddling up, the mounting, or even the riding that sends the horse into fear mode. A communication and energy session will not only help the horse owner understand, it will help the horse release the fear and understand that the energy no longer exists. It is no longer a threat. Josalito also said that if Juliana petted him on the neck after she caught him, it would help him release his fear of being caught and feeling like he was going to be hurt or even die from being caught. Juliana explained that sometimes when she felt really frustrated when trying to catch him, she thought it would be so easy to throw a rope over him and catch him that way, but something made her stop. It’s a good thing she didn’t, I told her, because her gelding would have freaked out. It is a good thing we listen to our intuition that tells us or shows us that is not the way to go.
After Josalito’s session, an older horse that had been named Roanie came into the barn. I knew he was the one with “the dead heart.” He felt old, sad and stiff. He didn’t like his name either and suggested his name be Jessie. I shared this with Juliana even though Jessie was her dad’s horse. Jessie was not scheduled to have a session but since he kept hanging around I added him and started to work on him.
When I was leaving my home, I was told to bring two crystal wands that I use as massagers. One was made of rose quartz and the other was clear quartz. I knew that they were meant for Jessie. I was shown, in my mind’s eye, to use the rose quartz wand on Jessie’s left side and the quartz on his right side. After I was done I could see his energy had shifted and the energy from the rose quartz left pink energy on his left side and white energy from the quartz crystal showed up on his right side. He was processing the session very nicely. It is always interesting when a horse books his own session like this guy did. He wasn’t booked but I certainly added him, free of charge to the sessions I gave that day. How can I say no to a horse in need? I don’t!
After Jessie’s session, his energy felt younger, softer and kinder. He moved a lot of stuck energy in that session. It was amazing but I know that when a human or animal is ready to change, and they have a session, they can shift a lot! He did!
I consider it a pleasure and an honor to work on my clients’ equine friends. This was an amazing day and I can only hope for more!
