Mystery’s owner, Karissa connected with me in a text session. She had some questions about her cat that was having some behavioral issues. Prior to our session, I meditated to connect. As soon as I connected, her cat called himself Spinky. Even though this cat’s energy felt male, when we connected I asked if it was a male or female cat. Spinky was male and his name was Mystery. Interesting I said, and I explained what he’d called himself. Karissa answered that his name could have been Spinky. He was a stray. Mystery replied that he’d strayed to Karissa.
Mystery said that he’d been trying to tell Karissa something but she was not getting his message. Karissa shared that Mystery had ruined both couches downstairs. She wanted to know why. I want a scratching post he said. When he said this he showed me an image of a scratching post covered in jute. He liked the way some things sounded when he scratched at them with his claws he added. Karissa said she would get him one. He corrected her. I want one upstairs and one downstairs so I don’t have to move around in the house when I want to scratch he added. He explained that he was marking his territory but Karissa didn’t understand because she didn’t speak cat. Then he made a joke and said that he gave her a present with his presence. He was very witty. Karissa asked me to tell Mystery not to scratch the furniture. He replied, get me a scratching post and I will stop. He added that he really liked texture and liked how some surfaces felt on his paws.
Then he explained that he wanted a place of his own to hang out. He asked me to share with Karissa the chairs I give my cats. I have two wing chairs in my house. I cover them with sheets and allow the cats to have these chairs. They know that they own these chairs and they are quite proud of this. I added that I bought them a children’s circus tent from Ikea. They love that silly tent and take turns turning it upside down, hiding in it and of course sleeping in it.
Karissa said she would get Mystery his space and a scratching post. She just wanted him to stop ruining her furniture. Mystery answered that he did not mean to ruin her couches. He just really liked the sound his claws made on the fabric. He assured her that he was not being mean or malicious. He explained that his hormones were out of whack as well and that was why so he felt strange.
Karissa asked if Mystery would like another session. Mystery replied he would like another one next week. I can hardly wait to hear what he has to say.
