What's your Zen!

June 25, 2014
Two nights ago I was mowing the lawn with the push mower because the belt from the mower deck on the riding mower flew off. As I pushed and mowed, I realized that THIS was a Zen moment.
What is a Zen moment you may ask? I understand it to be a moment when you are totally immersed in what you are doing that you lose track of almost everything that is going on around you. You are focused only on that one thing. And in that immersed moment you are one and at peace with your world. It is a great way to live.
Reading horses is like that for me. From the moment I walk up to those four-legged beauties I am totally immersed in their world. I belong to them and they belong to me, and my mind.
There are times when I hear the voices of the animals I am to read far before I ever set foot on their property. Then I kind of laugh and tell them, “I am on my way.”
I like to tell people that I don’t work, because reading animals is not work for me. It is a joy and I live for the days I drive up someone’s driveway to read their animals for them.
Finding Zen moments in our lives is the pleasure that makes our world the wonderful place it can be. I encourage you to find your Zen and share it with the world.
