Hardy

I had the pleasure the other day of meeting Hardy and his owner, Brandy. Brandy had many questions. Probably the most pressing one she wanted answers to was, was it going to ever get easier with Hardy? And she wanted to know more about where he came from.

Hardy is a rescue dog. Brandy had been looking for a dog to fill out her family. Having been on a farm, and being used to farm dogs, she thought that a dog would be a very nice addition to her family.

Brandy confided, I didn’t know it was going to be this much work. Typically the first two years of a dog’s life are the most formative years. After the first two years, they become settled and are much easier (usually) to handle. In this time, if they have an attentive owner they will know the dos and don’ts of the house they are living in. Sadly Hardy did not have this experience in the first year of his life. Brandy explained that Hardy had come from an area much farther north of where she now lived. As she began to explain a bit about Hardy’s background, Hardy showed me a mental picture of what it was like where he had been before he had been captured and ended up as a rescue dog. Hardy had been able to go wherever he liked. No one taught him a thing, so when Brandy took Hardy home, he had no idea of what it would be like to be a dog with a human family. He had no idea of rules, boundaries, leashes or anything like that.

Hardy had been an eager puppy who had definitely been a follower. He was always one step behind the pack. He was happy to just follow everyone else. It never occurred to him that one day he’d be on his own in a single dog family. Brandy explained that when Hardy was at the dog trainer’s he was very silly and would lie on his back acting like a clown instead of following commands or instructions. As Brandy let me know about Hardy’s training experience, Hardy showed me that he felt like he was kind of dumb, and didn’t always get what he was being asked. So instead of doing nothing, he took the pressure off by being goofy, and yes, people laughed.

At the end of our session, I concluded by explaining that Hardy wanted boundaries. He needed a very clear understanding of where he could be in their house. Brandy had already done this by shutting the doors to areas where he was not allowed to go. He said that he appreciated this.  Hardy also said that he loved to go for walks. He wanted Brandy to walk him every day. When he could handle going for a walk, he said that he wanted to run with her. Walk first though, he told her, and then we can run he added. Hardy said he loved to go for car rides. He urged Brandy to use those as rewards to let him know that he’d been a good boy by giving him a car ride. He also added that he did not like long car rides. A short one was good enough.

Brandy said that Hardy had come with the name he now had. Hardy said that he had chosen it because he was a hardy dog, a real survivor. Hardy explained that often a dog would choose a name. Then the dog will send that name over and over to a human’s mind. If the human is connected, then he or she will use that name for the dog. He affirmed that Hardy was the name he had chosen. He was happy that Brandy kept his name.

Brandy explained that Hardy had the run of their back yard. He had a huge enclosed area where he could run and chase anything that came into the area. She added that there was a time line as to when she could actually bring him into the house in the evening. If she waited too long to bring him in, Hardy refused to come inside. Hardy said it was a lot of fun to be outside in that fenced area at night. He explained that it literally comes alive with all kinds of things to chase. He loved it. However Brandy said he barked so much nobody in their house could sleep if Hardy was left outside at night.

Hardy was part elkhound. He explained that was why he was so friendly. I have a nice coat too he added. It was clear that this dog was one happy, goofy, friendly guy. He was so grateful that Brandy and her family had taken him in.

Later that evening when I connected with Hardy after the session, he showed me that he wanted some energy work from me so his brain would work properly and in a balanced way. I saw an image of his brain in my third eye and worked my magic. He thanked me when I was done. It always feels good when I can help a pet in a way like this. I absolutely love distance healing and animals do too.

Hardy is just one of the many rescue dogs that is so fortunate to have a wonderful, thoughtful and loving home. I absolutely loved this on site session. Hardy did too. He laid his head on my lap and licked me with such love. I was truly blessed to take part in this session.
