She's a Jumper!

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Amy and Chloe. Amy is a young intuitive rider and horse owner. Chloe is her horse. When I met Chloe this morning Amy didn’t tell me Chloe’s age. It doesn’t really matter when I read a horse initially because horses like all animals do not use minutes, hours, days and years like we do. Humans invented time to keep track of events. Horses use sunrise and sunset to know what time of day it is and that’s about it. They feel how old they are. Today Chloe felt about seven years old. She looked like she was between seven and ten years old. I wasn’t surprised however at the end of our session Amy told me that Chloe was twenty years old. Chloe told us that she didn’t feel that old, in fact Chloe had a lot more to say than merely discuss her age. She was

At the beginning of our session, and this is usual, Chloe wanted me to talk to Amy about my beginning in horse listening. This introduction for new clients and their horses puts both client and horse at ease and helps the horse transition. As we talk about how this horse listening works, the horse chooses to join in on the conversation. In the beginning, when Amy took Chloe’s halter off, Chloe was a bit agitated. Chloe is a neck wringer. I had two of these years ago. One was a pinto gelding and the other was a miniature mare that looked just like the pinto gelding. When they were agitated they would wring their neck around. Chloe was the same way. She was agitated that she had been separated from the rest of the herd. As she wrung her neck, she paced the fence line anxious to join the herd. The herd finally moved away from Chloe’s view and left her so she could be a part of what was going on with the humans in the pen she was in. As Amy and I talked, Chloe added to the conversation. When Amy explained that Chloe had been a jumper. Even though Chloe was an Arab, this mare felt like she was a warm blood. Chloe’s wither was extremely high. I explained to Amy that when I look at horses I often see the energy that is an extension of the horse’s physical body. Chloe looked really tall with an extremely high and exaggerated wither. I explain that this was an energetic imbalance. Although to most people this condition wasn’t physically present, it was present and can be detected by those who are sensitive to energy fields. When I pointed this out to Amy, she admitted that she could see what extended beyond Chloe’s physical body. When conditions like this exist, I use Reiki to balance these energies. As the horse accepts the healing energy, the condition that I first saw balances and shifts into the body the horse is now physically present in. If this is confusing, I apologize. Those of you reading this blog will understand it to be described as, “Something looks different.”

After a while of talking between the three of us I heard that Chloe wanted to show us her movement. When I first began my session with Amy and Chloe, I remarked that Chloe’s chest appeared underdeveloped and was not in proportion with the rest of her body. It is interesting that Amy told me that Chloe had been a jumper and had done quite well. Many people watching Chloe and Amy jump had said that they were surprised Chloe could get as much height as she did when she was jumping. Chloe added that even though people saw she was not tall, she felt tall because she felt as though she had the energy of a warm blood. She said she had been a Trakehner in a previous life. And guess what? Amy had been her rider then too. These too clearly had a bond that went beyond their current lives. So Chloe said that when she jumped she used this previous life energy. That was why she loved to jump. It was also why she was such a success for her size. Amy has been with Chloe for the past seven years. She bought Chloe from an endurance rider who had tried Chloe in endurance but Chloe just wasn’t into endurance. I told Amy that I was glad her previous owner had recognized that Chloe was not meant for endurance. I know if a horse is into its discipline it doesn’t require special equipment or anything else. It does that discipline for the love of the sport.

Chloe said that since she retired from jumping last year she felt lost. She really missed her job and wanted to do something with her life. She said that she felt great now and added that if Amy wanted to have her bred she wouldn’t mind it at all. Choose a horse that’s a great jumper she added, if you want my mind and perseverance, add some height to the mix and you will have a great foal. The Chloe added that she did not particularly want live cover. She’d be okay with artificial insemination. Live cover breeding could be too aggressive she said.

When we were done our session, Chloe had calmed down considerably since the beginning of our session. During our session, she’d walked over several times. And one time she put her muzzle to me and thanked me. It doesn’t get any better than that!

During this session I received a text message from another horse owner. My text message is signalled by a recorded horse whinny. when my text signal went off as a whinny in my pocket, Chloe answered with her own whinny! It was quite funny and enjoyable. I usually have my phone on silent but today I forgot to shut the sound off, and for that I am glad. She is quite the horse and quite the jumper.
